Kitty & Em Where it all Began…
We met working for an Insurance company in 1998 We managed teams of people selling & servicing Home & Motor Insurance polices.. In the 90s call centres were the way forward!! :) We moved from job to job at the company over 20 years but always seemed to end up working in the same team.. Who followed who?. we shall never know!! We worked hard but played harder… oooh the stories and fun we had along the way forging a friendship as well as being colleagues..
All good things come to end though and in 2012 following a major reshuffle of the business (which seemed to happen every 18 months!) it was Kitty’s department that was affected & she left leaving Em to it.. slaving at her best friend (her laptop) We vowed to stay in touch.. but you never know till someone leaves whether you actually like each other that much to find the time to meet up! Its so easy when you see someone every day at work… But friends we stayed with regular meet ups usually involving food & drinks..
In 2014 Kitty opened Kittys Jules… always interested in fashion and passionate about finding clothes that would fit plus size women that were both fashionable stylish and easy to wear. from there a love of styling developed she learnt a lot along the way made a ton of mistakes and had a huge amount of fun and met the best people in her customers. What started as a bit of a hobby became a business and 7 years later still loving it and laughing to tell the tale
In 2016 in the usual girly meet up meet up “I have news… I have handed my notice in” Kitty yelped with delight.. She was desperate for her friend to leave & be happy following several meet ups of sad news & pressure to work harder… With no job to go to or plan (most unlike Em) Kitty suggested “lets do something together”
As Em worked her 3 months notice they worked hard to develop a business they could run together.. Kitty & Em was born.. a mobile, pop up shop.. a series of venues were booked, stock & display equipment purchased & the business was born…
A year of “popping up” loading cars up with all that was needed and the housing the shop in Ems spare room took its toll… the next phase of the journey beckoned.. Kitty had researched the town of Hadleigh & on a visit to the town not far from her folks home a little shop had become available for rent! She called Em “dont think I am mad but shall we go and take a look” Em agreed and left home on the day of the viewing telling her husband “oh dont worry I wont be buying a shop today” A month later (11th April 2017) after a lot of work and help from our lovely families we opened our doors.. Kitty & Em had a home… So now to see what we could achieve….
